Kanpur: Teams of director general, Goods and Service Tax (GST) Intelligence conducted raids at the business establishments and residences of four tobacco traders in Farrukhabad district on Saturday. The team was accompanied by the sleuths of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF).
A large amount of cash has been recovered from the establishment and residence of one among the traders, the sources informed. The raids were conducted at the offices and residences of a tobacco trader Honey Aggarwal, Ashok Maurya, Ankur Agarwal and Pukhraj Daga.
"Separate teams of GST Intelligence conducted raids at the establishments and houses of tobacco traders simultaneously. The teams were accompanied by Central Reserve Police force personnel," sources further said.
The force, accompanying the team, stood at guard at the main entrances and did not allow anyone to enter during the raid. The mobile phones of all the employees of Pukhraj Daga had been deposited.
Pukhraj Daga, who was not in the city, was asked to reach the spot by the DGGI officials. A note counting machine was used at the tobacco trader Ashok Maurya's place.
Earlier, raids were conducted on separate occasions at the establishments and residences of the tobacco traders in the district.
Till date the DGGI authorities caught GST evasion of Rs 15 crore for which an FIR was also lodged against the two traders.
